The 55 Bus Ride Through Fenway—A Ride Along and Rally for the Community
The #55 Bus is more than a route—it’s a lifeline that connects the Fenway, West Fenway, Back Bay, and Copley neighborhoods. On Thursday, October 2, we joined our neighbors, advocates, and community leaders for a Ride Along and Rally to support improvements to this essential route and to highlight its importance to everyone who calls Fenway home.
The day began at the Queensberry St. @ Jersey St. bus stop, where community members gathered for the 1:30 p.m. bus departure. Cameras in hand, we documented the ride—capturing the faces, stories, and unity of riders who rely on the 55 every day. From there, the rally continued at 10 Park Plaza, in front of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, where voices joined together to call for extended hours and continued reliable service.
The event was organized by the 55 Bus Route Coalition, a group formed in 2021 after cuts to the route. Members include Fenway Forward, residents of the Fenway and surrounding neighborhoods, the Peterborough Senior Center, the City of Boston’s neighborhood liaison to Fenway, and representatives from the offices of State Representative Jay Livingstone and City Councilor Sharon Durkan. State Senator Lydia Edwards was also present to stand with the community and show her support.
Representative Jay Livingstone joined riders on the bus for the journey, demonstrating firsthand his commitment to the cause. Associates from Councilor Sharon Durkan’s office rallied in support, reinforcing the city’s connection to its residents.
Through our photography, we captured a story of community, advocacy, and unity—showing that the 55 Bus is more than just a mode of transportation. It’s part of Fenway’s heartbeat, linking health, neighborhoods, and livelihoods.
Celebrating Boston’s stories—one ride, one rally, and one photo at a time. Do You. Be You. ReprezentU.
