15th Annual African Festival of Boston

On August 16–17, 2025, we had the honor of photographing the 15th Annual African Festival of Boston at Boston Common. The weekend was alive with the rhythms of drums and Afrobeats, the energy of dance, and the beauty of vibrant cultural expressions.

As photographers, we were drawn to the way the festival brought people together. Families shared laughter over delicious food, children immersed themselves in cultural activities, and artists showcased fashion, crafts, and performances that reflected the richness of the African diaspora. Every corner of the Common offered a new story waiting to be captured.

Our lenses followed both the grand and the intimate moments—the striking movement of dancers in traditional attire, the colorful fabrics flowing in the breeze, the sparkle in a child’s eyes while hearing a story, and the joy of community connection. Each frame reminded us of the importance of preserving culture, celebrating heritage, and honoring the diverse voices that make up Boston’s community.

Marking its 15th year, this festival wasn’t just another gathering—it was a milestone of legacy and pride. Documenting it felt like being part of something larger: a tradition that uplifts, inspires, and unites.

We are grateful to have shared in this celebration, and through our photography, we hope to reflect the color, spirit, and energy that made the festival unforgettable.
